NetSuite Solutions Provider - JacksonvilleNetSuite Implementation and Consulting
Like most towns back in the 1800’s, Jacksonville had a history as an outpost for military purposes long before it was a city. At present, it’s the largest land-massed city in the US. It has over 400 neighborhoods and over 330 public parks. In the 50’s there was a shift in population and a majority of the workforce had left the city. This caused the budget of the city to take a significant hit. To respond to this, the city expanded its jurisdiction to include outlying areas; causing the massive sprawl that makes it the largest “city” today. This caused outlying areas to get the city infrastructure in parks, libraries, and school systems, while the city benefited from having more “capita” to accept local taxes from.
While being a very low-lying land mass, against just a 40’ rise from sea road mapping highest points, the territory has yet been inhabited for thousands of years. Long before settlers arrived in the region, it was a well established Native American settlement. In fact, the oldest pottery located there dates back to 2,500BC. Through the exploration of Europeans, France first claimed the territory as their own. This passed over to Spain and had some back and forth before landing in the hands of the English. Losing the Revolutionary War, England handed it back over to Spain. It would be another 40 years before Spain signed Florida over to the United States. Interestingly, for a territory managed by so many cultures, each left their mark on the town by way of progress. Each made strides with buildings, transport infrastructure and differing types of ag development.
Unfortunately, most of that mesh of cultures was wiped clean in the great fire of 1901. In 8 hours, over 140 city blocks went up in flames, destroying over 2,000 buildings and leaving over 10,000 homeless. The city rallied and within the next 4 years, regrew with better design, road mapping and engineering applied. The modernness of the city now pulled in filmmakers and banking institutions.
Just as the city grew over the last 100 years, you will be able to see the style of architecture as it changed through the decades. One of the favorites is still the Wells Fargo Center.
The population is just shy of a million. Having the largest deep-water port in the south, the area remains strong in waterway import and export across as diverse a field as you can imagine, from military, to dairy, to biotech, to automotive, to lumber: if it can come by rail or by sea, it can pass through Jacksonville to reach its final destination. Probably why Amazon expanded its warehousing operations south of Tampa, to build another empire in Jacksonville, said to hire on 1,500 people.
For a cityscape of natural talent, businessmen have made use of Jacksonville to see their dreams to fruition. With many business options built into the fabric f the city itself, the number of ways to grow is just as multitudinous and diverse. We’re here to give you a better compass and a solid map so you can systematically conquer your territory.
